Mitchif Heritage Keepers hosts an annual Music and Art Festival to celebrate and perpetuate the history, culture and traditions of the Metis in Montana.
The three day event is held in Choteau, Montana and features workshops or demonstrations by published writers, award winning speakers, educators and respected elders.
Speakers have included: Writers Nickolas Vrooman and Dr. Rosalind La Pier, Alfred Wiseman, Director of Native American Studies at MSUB and Dr. Reno Charette.
Friends and relatives meet to share stories, enjoy cooking demonstrations, dance and play music. Vendor booths feature Metis traditional as well as contemporary arts and crafts.
The event is free and open to the public.
